My wife and I are frequent viewers of the television reality program, The Amazing Race. Last Sunday night once again, one team in the race quickly found themselves eliminated due to the ineptitude of a local taxi driver. It seems that every season at least one team is eliminated because a taxi driver was unable to find their requested destination. The problem in last year’s programs was highlighted by the Los Angeles Times. This even happened in the final episode a few years ago that featured Portland, where I live. We can only wonder how many travel plans of regular tourists are destroyed in this manner and what sub-par taxi drivers are doing to the reputation of cities all over the world when television cameras aren’t recording the problems. And let’s not even bring other issues into our critique!
Which cities have successfully implemented training programs designed to address the quality of taxi driver service and knowledge of their city?
