I am pleased to have been asked by my colleague Todd Mayfield at Axia Creative to contribute a chapter to his new book on Branded Wayfinding for Destinations – Successful Places & Public Spaces.
Todd has written the book for organizations such as convention and visitor bureaus (CVBs), community committees, or civic teams that must know the basics about branded wayfinding to enhance the sense of place and the visitor and resident experience in specific locations.
He takes an in-depth look at the art and science of branded wayfinding, how it came to be, and the process required for its successful implementation – and the pitfalls to avoid. Todd examines how wayfinding has evolved into a specialized discipline. He then provides the detailed to help transform a place into a great experience. Importantly, he demonstrates the links between branding and wayfinding, and how committees can get both elements right.

Best Selling Book: Destination Branding for Small Cities
I would like to add further that the main idea behind city branding is that we give an image of the city to people so that it turns from a location to a destination. Similarly, Malaysia’s tourism board calls Malaysia – Truly Asia; Australia – There’s nothing like Australia; Las Vegas gives a image of Casino’s all over!
Hope you will like this articles on City Branding. This website gives a number of articles on urbanisation and focuses on Urban Planning.
